Natalia is a Researcher and Practitioner in Neuroscience Applied to Architectural Design.

​

​

Her approach balances two sub-personalities, one which values scientific precision and knowledge, and another that favours creativity and unorthodoxy.

​

At work, she combines her deep care for people and their well-being with her passion for architecture and design. Her original background is in medicine and this is where she brings from a focus on human experience.

Natalia's specific professional interest is the impact of architecture on different aspects of our lives: social, behavioural, health & well-being and cognition.

​

Outside of work she spends time outdoors skiing, windsurfing and trekking in the mountains.

ASSOCIATION OF CHILDREN'S MUSEUMS

ACM works with more than 400 members located in 48 U.S. states and 20 countries.  

​

The effort of this project, supported by the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, was to implement findings from the science of child development into the design to enhance family and children’s health and wellbeing. 

​​

SCOPE:

​

• Carrying out initial data analysis from ACM members to extract common goals and approaches

• Co-creating and participating in the webinar that introduced the concept of science-informed design and human-centred environments to children’s museum professionals 

• Conducting the post-webinar survey to understand which insights would be most useful for ACM’s member organisation 

• Co-creating a set of design guidelines.

PORTLAND HOUSE

This project is a large refurbishment of a landmark tower in central London called Portland House. Human Metrics Lab and Hume which I worked for collaborated with Landsec and Gensler to bring a science-informed approach to design. 

​

The efforts of Human Metrics Lab which I led were focused on finding scientific insights which would inform the design of shared spaces supporting creativity, collaboration and community building.

​

SCOPE:

​

• Co-researching for desired aspects of human impact for the project by carrying out the survey and conducting interviews with key decision-makers

• Co-creating contents of the strategic brief for the project

• Co-creating and participating in a couple of workshops conducted for Landsec and Gensler Teams to introduce them into the concept of science-informed design and to present initial research findings 

• Co-creating a report with scientific insights for the design of shared spaces.

SENSPACE

Senspace is a 'spa with a creative twist' facilitating well-being in the urban context. Thanks to the balanced sensory experience achieved by means of science-informed design and an opportunity to be surrounded by artworks this experiential space aids relaxation, reflection, creative expression and community building.

• Conducting initial research on the desired human impact of the project and aspects of experience 

• Co-creating contents for the strategic brief for the project.
